Drawing Classes:
Mondays, at present, are given over to Drawing Sessions coached by Frank McCormick. The aim of the sessions is to focus on improving confidence and drawing talents, thereby developing individual styles and improving the sense of construction and structure at the same time. It has been running for two years now and has proved to be very popular with Club Members.
The general format of the sessions is semi-formal and flexible, with the aim to fit in with the individuals needs. Members attend, as and when they have time available, and only pay a flat fee for the sessions they attend. At present, persons attending the morning session can stay on for the afternoon session at no extra cost (two for the price of one!).The Drawing Sessions are open to all Art Club Members for a flat rate charge of £1.
Subjects addressed at the sessions include:
*Use of basic drawing materials.
*Basic drawing
*Construction and composition.
*Perspective.
*Still Life.
*Life Drawing.
*Imagination and Abstract drawing.
*Trips outside for 'plein air' sketching around and about West Fife and Lothian (subject to the weather).
*Trips to some of the larger Art Galleries/Exhibitions.
At present more ambitious plans for visiting the major galleries in London and elsewhere are afoot, but still in the planning stage.
Monday sessions at present are held from 11am - 1pm, and then 1pm - 4pm. An evening time slot from 7pm - 9pm is also available, but at present this is not being used.
More formal tuition sessions can be arranged through Frank if desired. These sessions would be run more on a one-to-one basis and would be subject to a fee being levied in line with other formal lessons offered by the club.
En Plein Air Days:
Colin Joyce has recently orginised En Plein Air Days. Anyone interested in plein air days should note that this is now planned as a regular event, meeting at the Pittencrief Park top Car Park, on the third Sunday of each Month. Further detail on times etc can also be found on the Club notice board.
This years proposed programme is as follows:
Saturday October 17th:
Lesley Haycock Acrylics Workshop. Lesley is a local artist, crafter and model, and paints using a style normally associated with watercolours. The painting is then constructed using paint straight from the tube. The technique is ideal for both abstract and representational images.
Saturday November 28th:
Life Drawing workshop. Lesley Haycock will be the model for the day, with Alexander Ross facilitating, giving structure and advice throughout the day. The workshop will not be limited to any particular medium, therfore you can paint, pastel or sketch, whichever you prefer.
December - FREE
January (Date TBC):
Dunfermline Art Club Member Colin Joyce will hold a "Landscapes In Oils" Workshop. Colin works predominatelly with watercolour however, he is also well versed with Acrylics and Oils, and last year held a successful 10 week watercolour class at the Club.
Saturday February 6th:
Dunfermline Art Club Member Chris Amos will hold a "Pastel Portrait" Workshop. Following on from his previous workshops at both Dunfermline Art Club and Dalgety Bay Art Club, the day will be focused on the process of creating a portrait from photos, using soft pastels.

Taking on our Presidents suggestion of a "Summer Workshop Weekend", we would like to suggest something special, such as Margaret Evans and Charles Evans. i.e, Margaret could hold a "Portraits Day" giving an overview of painting portraits with no restriction to medium. Further details on this event will be notified later.
June (TBC):
"Crafts Open Day" Utilising the variety of experience that we have in the Dunfermline Art Club and at the Dalgety Bay Art Club, we would like to invite a variety of Club "Crafters" to hold demos thoughout the day (possibly even a weekend). Further details on this event will be notified later.
Proposals for invitees:
Anne Hill (DAC, Card Making)
Margaret Smith (from DBAC, Card Making)
Peggie Young (Scrap Book Making)

In addition to all of the above, there is a keen interest to have a Summer Weekend "paint away". This would entail Members of the Club taking
a weekend away at an agreed Hotel, to enjoy a weekend of painting and socialising. Details to be discussed and agreed.
This programme is constantly under review. Suggestions for tutorials/demonstrations
should be passed to a member of the committee in writing, with the name of the artist,
telephone number and address.
If you are an artist that would be willing to hold a workshop or demonstration at our premises, please
feel free to contact us with your details and availability.
