A very interesting and unusual workshop featuring two artists (Sue Tait and Kate Hajducka) who specialise in traditional painting methods and materials was held at the club on Tuesday 19th April. The focus was on the use of natural pigments and binders which included hide glue, gesso, beeswax, oil and egg tempera. A demonstration of encaustic painting was given, (also known as hot wax painting) which uses the heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. Afterwards everyone had the opportunity to try these techniques for themselves.
